In de masterclass verkent DJ DNS samen met twee young professionals, Quirijn Vlaar en Gregory Dalgliesh, het scratchen en beatjuggling, waarbij vinyl en draaitafels als instrumenten worden ingezet. Deze technieken uit de jaren ’80 vormen nog steeds een kleine, levendige niche binnen de DJ-cultuur. DNS demonstreert hen de vaardigheden op het allerhoogste niveau, waarna ze samen improviseren met de geperfectioneerde technieken. Met deze nieuwe creatieve skills kunnen ze hun eigen performances verder versterken. Op het podium staan de drie DJs gebroederlijk achter hun eigen draaitafels.
Talenten
Quirijn Vlaar, aka Dr Q, is a Dutch turntablist, DJ, and producer from Hoofddorp. Co-founder of the Portable Scratch Society, he promotes portablism and connects the international scratch community, while contributing beats and scratches to hip‑hop artists in the Netherlands and abroad.
Gregory Dalgliesh, aka Greg Die, is a DJ and event organizer from North Holland. Active in the underground bass and hardcore scene, he is known for intense sets blending hardcore, drum & bass, breakcore, and hip‑hop, and performs at venues such as Paradiso, Maassilo, and Paard den Haag.
DJ DNS
DNS, beter bekend als Dennis Bruijn, is een Nederlands DJ en creatief meesterbrein in de wereld van turntablism. Hij gebruikt de decks als instrumenten en staat bekend om zijn eclectische sets vol spot-on scratches, live mash-ups en verrassende mixen van hiphop, R&B, disco, soul, funk en clubhits.
Dennis begon zijn DJ-carrière op 13-jarige leeftijd, geïnspireerd door video’s van DJ’s zoals Cash Money en Allstar Fresh. Sinds 1990 doet hij aan DJ-battles en werd hij drievoudig Nederlands DMC DJ-kampioen, vier keer winnaar van de Nederlandse DJ Kampioenschappen en winnaar van het Red Bull Thre3style DJ-kampioenschap. Hiermee vertegenwoordigde hij Nederland op de DMC Wereldkampioenschappen.
Hij werkte samen met artiesten zoals Extince en Diggy Dex, collega DJ’s als Kypski, Laidback Luke en Fedde le Grand, big bands en orkesten, en opende voor internationale acts zoals Snoop Dogg, Black Eyed Peas en Mobb Deep. DNS trad op in binnen- en buitenland en speelde op festivals als Lowlands en Mysteryland.
Met zijn ervaring blijft Dennis de kunst van het DJ’en verspreiden, mixtapes droppen en jong talent inspireren met zijn vakmanschap en passie voor muziek.
In the masterclass, DJ DNS explores beatjuggling and scratching with two young professionals, Quirijn Vlaar and Gregory Dalgliesh, using vinyl and turntables as instruments. These techniques from the 1980s remain a small but vibrant niche within DJ culture. DNS demonstrates the skills at the highest level, after which they improvise together with the refined techniques. With these new creative skills, they can further enhance their own performances. On stage, the three DJs stand side by side behind their own turntables.

DNS, better known as Dennis Bruijn, is a Dutch DJ and creative mastermind in the world of turntablism. He uses the decks as instruments and is known for his eclectic sets featuring spot-on scratches, live mash-ups, and surprising mixes of hip hop, R&B, disco, soul, funk, and club hits.
Dennis began his DJ career at the age of 13, inspired by videos of DJs such as Cash Money and Allstar Fresh. Since 1990 he has competed in DJ battles and became a three-time Dutch DMC DJ Champion, four-time winner of the Dutch DJ Championships, and winner of the Red Bull Thre3style DJ Championship. Through these achievements he represented the Netherlands at the DMC World Championships.
He has worked with artists such as Extince and Diggy Dex, fellow DJs including Kypski, Laidback Luke, and Fedde le Grand, big bands and orchestras, and opened for international acts such as Snoop Dogg, Black Eyed Peas, and Mobb Deep. DNS has performed nationally and internationally and played at festivals such as Lowlands and Mysteryland.
With his extensive experience, Dennis continues to spread the art of DJing, releasing mixtapes and inspiring young talent with his craftsmanship and passion for music.
