Masterclass
In the masterclass, Conny Janssen focuses on the “being” — the core of her dance lies in the human scale. Dancers are not abstract bodies, but individuals with their own stories. She explores intention and presence, while also giving ample attention to the human layer in movement. Conny works with three changing pairs of dancers, making the interaction and dynamics between individuals visible. This brings real people and real emotions to life, revealing both the vulnerability and strength present in everyday life.

Talents are outstanding dance students from Codarts Rotterdam, each bringing their own artistry and energy: Marius Ade, Leonardo Benzoni, Noé Bittermann, Sienna Fortes, Mario Patrone, and Valentina Poggi.
Conny Janssen
Conny Janssen (Rotterdam, 1958) graduated from the Rotterdam Dance Academy in 1982. During her performing career she already developed into a remarkable choreographer. In 1992 she founded her own company, and since then Conny Janssen Danst has presented pure dance, infused with a strong human touch. Her choreographies are inventive, physically powerful, and moving.
Her work appears raw, bold, independent, and alert, and reflects a distinctly Rotterdam urban culture. She merges her fluid, virtuosic movement language with the individual qualities of her dancers. In addition to receiving several awards for her oeuvre, Conny Janssen has been honored for her personal achievements. In 2012 she was appointed Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau, and in 2019 she received the Gouden Zwaan. In 2015, Conny Janssen was appointed a member of the Academy of Arts of the KNAW.
