Time masterclass: 16:45-18:00
Language Masterclass: English
Masterclass
The masterclass by acclaimed Bobby Broom focuses on the art of jazz from a contemporary jazz master who is a link from the past to the present and future of the music. He will discuss how he became and remains inspired; his practice and creative processes; and musical details such as theory and harmony, accompaniment, sympathetic listening/playing, groove and time-feel, and interpreting music.
Talents
Bobby Broom will guide six talented jazz guitarists from the Jazz Department of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, accompanied by an equally skilled rhythm section of master students.
Bobby Broom
Bobby Broom was captivated by the sound of the jazz organ at the age of ten when he first heard Charles Earland’s Black Talk!, an experience that shaped the course of his musical journey. He went on to become a leading jazz guitarist, performing with greats such as Sonny Rollins, Art Blakey, and Charles Earland, and with his own organ trios, including the Bobby Broom Organi-Sation, he blends well-known pop melodies and the Great American Songbook with the jazz tradition. On April 30, 2026, just under two weeks after the Masterclass Festival Amsterdam, he will perform in Chicago at the prestigious annual International Jazz Day All-Star Global Concert, having been selected for the event by Herbie Hancock.
